	We all learn in different ways. I am a visual learner, but the classic way of teaching scientific concepts is through blackboards filled with incomprehensible mathematical formulae. I have lost count of the times I received a blank look from a teacher when I asked them to draw what they were trying to explain.

	"<a href="http://howthefouriertransformworks.com/" target="_blank">How the Fourier Transform Works</a>" is an online video course I've been filming for the past 4 years whose mission it is to try and demystify the maths behind one of the cornerstones of signal analysis. <br>
	<br>
	The medium of video and the almost unlimited canvas it provides me with has allowed me to channel all my passions; video production, sound design, compositing, animation, artwork, creative writing, and teaching into a course that I hope will prove what Albert Einstein claimed about science:

	<br>I hope that this will be the first of many online courses I produce on subjects ranging from science to music theory. 
	<br>
	<br>
	However, the necessity of working on the course only in my spare time while still working at my day job to support my family, severely limits how quickly I can complete it and move on to other courses. This is why I need your help.
<br><br>I’ve been an Electronics Engineer since 1998 and have worked in the R&amp;D departments of a number of tech companies producing a range of products from milking robots to feeding and monitoring devices for patients in intensive care. If there is one thing that I’ve realized in my working life, it’s that, in order to do my job properly, I needed a deeper and more thorough understanding of the important mathematical principles that I was taught at university. <br>
	<br>
	Perhaps my natural inclination to the visual was the reason that one of my main hobbies as a child was taking first my Dad’s old cine camera, then later the family video camera and playing around with them making short films and plays. I was fascinated by the world of TV production and special effects, especially science fantasy shows like Doctor Who and Star Trek. A visit to Granada Studios in Manchester, England when I was about 11 years old introduced me to the Green Screen process and video compositing. The possibilities this process made available were mind-blowing to me, but it would be many years before such capabilities became available to the home user. <br>
	<br>
	I’m also a keen musician. My fascination with the visual medium has always gone hand in hand with my fascination with sound. As a child, I was obsessed with microphones. When professional computer soundcards and non-linear editing software such as Cubase became affordable, the world of recording and sound design was opened up to me.
	<br>
		<br>
	As the popularity of the internet exploded and platforms such as YouTube and the world of online education developed, I decided to combine all my passions into one endeavor and exorcise my educational ghosts: producing online courses.
